Each year I undertake commissions to paint animals for private customers and ideally I prefer to meet and photograph the subject myself so that I can accurately portray their character and look. Sometimes this is not possible as either the subject lives too far away, or the painting is a posthumous one, in which case I need as many good photographs as possible to work from.
